Wolfson BTR Launches Symphony Lakes: Florida's First Major Build-to-Rent Community

In a significant development for the Florida housing market, Wolfson BTR has taken a decisive step towards addressing the state's need for quality housing solutions. Their latest project, Symphony Lakes, marks the initiation of Florida's first large-scale Build-to-Rent (BTR) community, with groundbreaking underway in a prime location that bridges the Sarasota / Bradenton area with the bustling Tampa / St. Petersburg metropolitan centers.

Encompassing a generous 50 acres, Symphony Lakes presents a two-phase development concept designed to meet the demands of modern renters who place a premium on space, privacy, and community. Phase I is set to introduce 220 townhomes and 18 single-family homes, while Phase II is poised to add a further 54 townhomes to the community's dynamic housing mix. Featuring 3 and 4-bedroom townhomes along with 4-bedroom detached single-family homes, each residence will boast private backyards and attached garages, a clear nod to residents' desire for a home-like environment.

The BTR model is gaining momentum as an innovative response to the shifting preferences of today's renter demographics—a shift propelled by a growing appreciation for flexible living arrangements that do not compromise on the quality of life. Symphony Lakes is an embodiment of this transformative trend, offering a comprehensive array of lifestyle amenities that align with the aspirations of contemporary renters. A resident clubhouse, state-of-the-art fitness center, resort-style pool, playground, meeting spaces, and expansive walking and running trails are part of the project's dedication to enriching the tenant experience.

Adam Wolfson, CEO and Founder of Wolfson BTR, articulates this vision succinctly: "Symphony Lakes represents our continued commitment to bringing thoughtful, community-driven Build-to-Rent projects to markets that desperately need quality housing options. We are focused on delivering homes and communities that provide a bridge for those who are not yet ready for homeownership but seek a living experience beyond that of traditional multifamily apartments inclusive of more space, privacy, and community connection."

The strategic site location within a three-minute drive of I-275 further accentuates the development's appeal, offering unbridled access to both main employment hubs and the coastal allure of Florida's renowned regions.

With site work initiated in October 2024 and vertical construction earmarked for August 2025, early 2026 will see the first wave of residents settling into their new homes. As the project progresses, Symphony Lakes stands poised not only to alleviate some of the housing shortages but also to redefine rental living, enhancing the Multifamily Apartment Industry's landscape. It's through such innovative projects that the multifamily sector can sustain growth and contribute to the flourishing of communities while tapping into the expertise and vision of industry leaders.
