Linc Housing Celebrates 100th Community with The Corners at Belmont Affordable Housing Project

In Belmont, California, Linc Housing, a seasoned nonprofit organization in the realm of affordable housing, is setting a new benchmark with the commencement of The Corners at Belmont. This pivotal project not only reflects Linc’s unwavering commitment to address housing scarcity but also serves as an emblematic celebration, marking their 100th constructed community in California since their inception in 1984.

Rebecca Clark, CEO of Linc Housing, encapsulated the organization’s ethos and the project's significance by stating, "The Corners at Belmont is a meaningful milestone for Linc - it's our 100th community and part of more than 10,000 homes we've created across California. Each development is a step toward our vision of a state where everyone has a safe, stable, and affordable place to live. We're grateful to partner with the City of Belmont and County of San Mateo to bring new opportunities and lasting housing solutions to the heart of this community."

The Corners at Belmont, ambitiously transforming downtown Belmont’s formerly vacant lots, is set to offer 37 homes featuring varying layouts to accommodate singles and families. This community-oriented development will notably prioritize individuals transitioning from homelessness by offering 18 one-bedroom homes, each backed by a Section 8 project-based voucher from the San Mateo County Housing Authority.

San Mateo County Supervisor Noelia Corzo expressed robust support for this endeavor, stating, "The County is proud to have partnered with Linc Housing and the City of Belmont on The Corners to bring beautiful and dignified homes to dozens of families and individuals. It isn't easy to build housing, let alone affordable housing, in this economic climate. But this is the time when we need it the most."

Considering the competitive nature of development proposals, Linc Housing's selection for this project underscores their adeptness in fulfilling multifamily housing needs while meticulously engaging with municipal teams. The development, designed by Torti Gallas & Partners, pledges not only to provide shelter but also to embed sustainability with features including photovoltaics and energy-efficient systems.

The financial architecture supporting this project is as comprehensive as its structural blueprint, encompassing contributions from multiple county sources, the City of Belmont, Bank of America, California Community Reinvestment Corporation, and tax credit equity.

Belmont Mayor Julia Mates acknowledges the profound community contribution, "These new homes will give working families and people who have experienced homelessness the housing stability they need to thrive. This new apartment community reflects our city's commitment to housing solutions that lift people up and create opportunity."

With anticipated completion in late summer or early fall of 2026, The Corners at Belmont stands as a testament to the synergistic potential of collaborative efforts between nonprofits, governmental bodies, and communities, reinforcing the notion that stability in housing is a cornerstone for individual and societal prosperity.
